The Government of India has proposed to free India from open defecation by October 2019 through Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) but the task is not easy as 131 million households need toilets and latrines.
In the month of may 2015 four volunteers from Nourish international participated in creating Rain Roof water harvesting structure at Samerth's Kutch campus situated at Gagodhar, Rapar block. They helped construct 20,000 lliters of water storing structre in the span of five weeks, for the migrant workers children, who resides at the campus. It was a first hand experience of working with the rural communities living in the arid zone of Kutch. The volunteers who were undergrad students from the States were able to comprehend the realities and hardship communities face for the basic amenities such as water.The entire principle was based on conservation, participation and promoting and enviornmental friendly and indigenious way of living.
