Samerth is preparing communities in Bodla, Mungeli, Pandriya, Kota, Marwahi and Gaurella blocks of Kwardha, Bilaspur and Mungeli districts on water security and sanitation issues. The communities led platforms are strengthened, the team is helping them to prepare water –security plans and Samerth’s team is getting equipped in geo-hydro local skills so that they can provide guidance to the communities.

Entitlements such as water related, basic ones such as ration card, job cards for accessing MGNREGA work, widow pension, housing and sanitation is being facilitated. School going adolescent girls are being involved in hygiene and menstrual hygiene management. So far Samerth has reached out to 65 villages/locations.

Water testing for quality is ensured and the communities are taught simple ways of testing water for it purity, odour and bacteriological contamination. So far, in 40 villages we have reached out to 8,000 people. Samerth though this programme has reached out to more than 5000 people.

Micro-plans and resource plans are prepared by the community to map their water requirements and get it endorsed by the gram-panchayats for resource allocations to make the villages’ water secure and eventually water positive. 

Recent Update

State RTE Forum (a group of about 30 civil society organizations from across the state of Chattisgarh which UNICEF supports), is a forum to demonstrate how the RTE Act can be made to work.

With efforts of the SAMERTH team and community participation the tribal people were able to access government health facilities of which 135 are men and 104 are women.
